  Most herpers I know bring a camera with them into the field. So do I! Admittedly, I don't know that many herpers. So, small sample size. But it's a thing. This article is about why I do that and what I get out of it.

  My camera is a Panasonic Lumix G9, which uses the relatively lighter and cheaper lens system, micro four thirds (MFT, or M43), to make it easier to acquire new lenses and lug them out into the field.
