Let's build something exciting.
I keep coming back to a couple of big problems. If you want to work on these, we have something in common already.
Making people better decision-makers
- How can we increase the effectiveness of public education?
- How can we increase the effectiveness of the public institutions we rely upon?
- How can we make people more rational decision-makers?
Protecting life on earth
- What can we do now to make living and doing business sustainably the best, most cost-effective option?
- What technologies can reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere?
- How can we build or improve our investments in buildings and city infrastructure to make them more efficient and cost-effective?
- How can we mitigate the climate crisis?
- How can we protect biodiversity?
But I can’t always predict what will excite me, so if you’re not sure, reach out!
What I’m doing now
Since early 2026, I’ve been a Principal Software Engineer at Jump.ai, managing a small but mighty team and building core systems that put LLM-powered tools in the hands of financial advisors.
On the side, I've been developing Cohort Education with my wife, Savannah, a reading tutor and literacy specialist.
Prior work
Previously, I was a founding engineer at Recurve, where for ten years I built data-intensive analytics software to make energy efficiency for commercial and residential buildings cheaper and more effective.
How I work
- I prefer to understand the business and the problem space, not just the code.
- I like to connect the research with the practice.
- I care a lot about software architecture and design.
- I let the best idea win, even if it didn’t come from me.
- Direct, kind, no drama.
