Organizations

There are many wonderful organizations out there doing all sorts of good work for conservation, biodiversity, and science. Here are some that I've supported. I'd encourage you to do the same, or find other organizations doing good work and support them.

Project Rattlecam

Project Rattlecam is the most amazing webcam I've ever watched. During the active season someone actively controls the camera during daytime and evening hours, and the camera runs 24/7, watching activity at a Prairie Rattlesnake den in Colorado. It's got incredible high-definition zoom, a fun web chat, and real outcomes for scientific research and public awareness. Donate here, or buy merch!

Southwestern Herpetologists Society (SWHS)

I've been a member of the Southwestern Herpetologists Society ever since I first heard about it. The SW Herp Society puts on monthly talks, hosts outreach events, places pets, and generally supports conservation efforts. It's a great group of people and we meet monthly on first Saturdays. Donate or become a member here.

So Much Pingle - Herpetology Podcast

I'm a regular listener and monthly supporter of Mike Pingleton's So Much Pingle Herpetology Podcast. He finds really interesting guests and chats with them about their work, and also brings in herpers and hosts fun herp trip debriefs. Donate here, or buy merch!

The Orianne Society

The Orianne Society started out conserving land for the endangered Eastern Indigo and has expanded significantly beyond that initial mission to work on a variety of valuable conservation efforts. Donate here.

HerpMapper

HerpMapper is an app built and managed by just three people, which, with the help of community scientists like yourself, securely tracks world-wide herpetofauna observations submitted by its users, carefully and purposefully curates lists of observations for legitimate data partners. Register to use the free app here. Donate here.

The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy acquires key parcels of land and then works as stewards of the land to conserve it for future generations. Donate here.

Center for Biological Diversity

The Center for Biological Diversity works to save endangered species. Often the conservation work required to save a "charismatic" species will involve caring for lands with less charismatic species, such as herp species. Donate here.
